ARTS003Bill McBirnie is a jazz and Latin flute specialist from Toronto, Ontario. He has studied with renowned flutists, Samuel Baron (USA), Robert Aitken (Canada) and Richard Egues (Cuba).  He has also recorded with Junior Mance, Irakere, Memo Acevedo and Emilie-Claire Barlow.  He has produced two Extreme Flute projects as well as three acoustic jazz projects—one with The Mark Eisenman Trio (“Nature Boy”), one with Bernie Senensky (“Paco Paco”) and, most recently, one with Robi Botos (“Mercy”) which won the Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Jazz Album and received a nomination for Best Jazz Album in the Independent Music Awards in the USA .  Bill has also been chosen Flutist of the Year - Jazz Report Awards as well as winning all of the National Flute Association’s (1) Jazz Flute Soloist, (2) Jazz Flute Big Band and (3) Jazz Flute Masterclass Competitions.
